England had come through the Test series relatively comfortably, winning all three matches against Pakistan with bonus-point wins to seal the series. But then, with the World Cup just months away, England would have been keen to avoid any potential injuries ahead of the tournament.

It was a gruelling Test tour, including a five-match ODI series against Scotland and one against the West Indies. But all the players seemed to have put their bodies through the wringer, with no rest day insight, before coming back to play two matches in New Zealand – a test and then an ODI series. The selectors have named a fairly strong England squad, with the most exciting additions being Olly Stone and Tom Curran.

Pakistan Vs England ODI series 2021

ODI matches will begin on Thursday, July 08 and conclude on Tuesday, July 13. The three T20 Internationals will be played from Friday, July 16 to Tuesday, July 20, with the first match slated for Tuesday, July 16.

The PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani said that all possible avenues are being explored to make sure that the matches go ahead in England. He said that all arrangements have already been made for the series. “Our aim is to hold the matches in Pakistan. The boards of New Zealand and West Indies have also agreed to send their teams to Pakistan,” Mani said.

Pakistan Vs England T20I series

The T20I series will comprise three T20Is. The International Cricket Council has named five venues for the three T20Is: Edgbaston, Headingley, Trent Bridge, Lord’s and The Ageas Bowl. The Ageas Bowl was the venue for the 2009 ICC Champions Trophy final, and all three ODIs are likely to take place in either Leeds or Cardiff.

The Pakistan cricket team will arrive in England from the second half of July. The Pakistan Super League (PSL) final will be held on 17 March and, after that, the tour proceeds as planned. The Pakistan players are likely to be training in the United Kingdom and, if required, there may be changes to the touring party, with changes made to the original schedule. Younis Khan is likely to lead the Pakistan team Batting Coach on his last tour.

Pakistan’s ODI history

Pakistan has won 11 ODI matches against England since 1992. Of the 11, only two have been competitive; both came in 2017. In the first ODI, Pakistan chased down a massive total of 339 in 48.4 overs. Only ten of Pakistan’s 11 victories over England have come in competitive matches, and all have come during the 1999 Cricket World Cup.

Pakistan has lost six out of their seven completed matches against England in the ODI format, and also seven out of eight completed matches in Test cricket.

How does Pakistan look on paper?

Pakistan’s squad will be led by Sarfraz Ahmed and feature some notable members of their current Test side in Shoaib Malik, Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Abbas.

Pakistan’s T20I history

The Pakistan cricket team are touring England in July 2021 to play three One Day International (ODI) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The ODI series will form part of the inaugural 2020–2023 ICC Cricket World Cup Super League

Pakistan has a winning record in T20Is against England (W3, L1). Pakistan won the last T20I between the two teams, a last-ball thriller in Manchester on June 2, 2018, with five wickets in hand.

Team news Sarfraz Ahmed and Fakhar Zaman will be leading Pakistan’s charge in the three T20I match series. Asad Shafiq will be out due to a shoulder injury and it will be interesting to see if he returns to the squad during the series. Babar Azam and Haris Sohail will also have an opportunity to prove their worth.

In the short term, the England team will have to build a bowling attack that can get them past the final hurdle in the Ashes and Lord’s Test, as well as the top of the ODI and T20I batting rankings, in order to dethrone India. In the longer term, the England team will have to invest in a wealth of up-and-coming talents, such as Jofra Archer, if they are to become serious contenders for the 2019 World Cup.
